POQUETTE WEDDING HAS PERFECT DAY
ith the weather looking like it would unleash a cloudburst at any second onlookers to the Poquette / Carder wedding held at 747 Florist Drive in Hobart Friday were wary to take their seats too far in advance.  The heavy weather never did come and "it probably was better that it was not bright and sunny" commented Trixie Sobieck as we would be baking out in the open seating provided to spectators who attended the affair. A modest crowd attended the ceremony held on the hallowed ground of Poquette Field, with the Grooms family and friends outnumbering the Brides by two to one.  There was little or no regard for regular wedding tradition however as the Bride strode about among family and friends in plain view of the Groom who seemed oblivious to any disorder in the ceremony.  Exact timing seemed to be of little concern to planners as the ceremony began 2.5 minutes before the 3PM scheduled starting time. Many of the media who planned to carry the event live had the beginning of the ceremony cut off in the beginning because they were still "in commercial" when it began. The wedding couple, Rick with a fresh buzz including nicks, and Bobbie sporting a favorite tattoo were stunning in their attire and it was plain to see they were by far the best looking couple on Poquette Field that day. The reception held at Doxbees in suburbs of Seymour was quite cozy and was the same location of Dick and Colleens wedding reception some 22 years earlier also on June 3rd. June 3rd will have a special meaning in the Poquette household with the two wedding anniversary's, however there is one more notable event that happened that day, Colleen was born! That's right it is also Colleen's birthday and a special birthday sing along was played in her honor at the reception. Several no shows to the wedding and reception were noted the most outstanding was the absence of Judy and Scott Treml who chose to ignore Rick and Bobbie in the spotlight but rather travel off to distant lands ignoring the favor done for them by Rick at their own wedding. Some 15 years ago when Scott and Judy were wed Rick who was a shy, and small boy mustered the courage to climb to the stage and sing for the Treml wedding. His sobering, and breathtaking rendition of "There's a tear in my beer" was the highlight of the Treml reception and is still talked about throughout the Oneida area.

AARON MEEUWSEN INURED IN ACCIDENT
An accident which occurred at highway 64 and W north of Green Bay in the Crivitz area involved Aaron Meeuwsen, son of Dick and Mary Meeuwsen, and his girlfriend and her children. The accident happened Monday afternoon and involved a van which hit the small Meeuwsen vehicle at mid point drivers side. Meeuwsen's head penetrated the windshield in the crash and the children were pinned in the vehicle and had to be freed with the jaws of life, the mother was uninjured. Meeuwsen suffered head trauma and bleeding on the brain and also a bruised liver and ruptured spleen. The children both had ruptured spleen and were air lifted to the hospital. All of the injured made a quick recovery and were at the family wedding Friday night. Meeuwsen still has blood on the brain and some staples protruding from his shaved head along with a lump the size of a quarter. All of the occupants are lucky to be alive with the car being totally demolished. According to Meeuwsen the van was traveling at a high rate of speed and he had insufficient time to cross the road. It is not known the number of occupants in the van or if they were injured.

AXIS OF EVIL DISRUPTS RETURN TRIP- BALL GAME
n Friday June 10th the Lamers Bus Co. invited it's employees to a baseball game at the Fox Cities Stadium to see the Timber Rattlers play the Cedar Rapids Kernels. The game was cut short by rain but there still was enough time for the Axis of Evil to access and consume enough "evil fuel" to cause a disturbance on the return bus. Lamers being a transportation business graciously offers a bus to the Fox Cities Stadium for the convenience of it's employees. The Axis, guests of the Kat, were offered this convenience and accepted, however no one expected what was to occur on the return bus trip. In a manor reminiscent of Al Czervik on the golf course at Bushwood the Axis handed out insults, loudly sang and was generally disruptive invading everyone's personal privacy and violating personal privacy statutes. The threesome had just got enough evil fuel to get started when they left the bus sauntering to another bar on their wobbly legs.

KATIE PICKETT SUCCUMBS TO CANCER
Katie Pickett wife of Bill Pickett passed away Wednesday June 8, 2005 at her home in Sweetheart City near Wausaukee. Katie and Bill were married October 12, 1957 in Casco. Katie and her husband moved to their home in 1976 after purchasing Ranger City Distributors in Wausaukee, Wisconsin.

Katie was a gentle creature who would not hurt anyone, and by her actions it was plain to see she was always concerned about others. When there was a family event going on Katie could be counted on to anything that was asked of her. She was a master of the kitchen and when visiting the Pickett home no one would ever leave wanting for food. She was often seen bringing in one of her famous poppy seed cakes to gatherings that included any kind of lunch or dinner and most of the time she would bring home an empty pan. Many others have tried to duplicate this cake but no one ever has. I suspect no one ever will.

PICKETT'S - LADES PLAN TRIP
A mini vacation is planned for this week when Tim and Joanie and The Kat and I will travel to Chicago to visit the Museum of Science and Industry. The journey will not take us directly to Chicago but first to Union Ill. where the Illinois Rail Road Museum is located. Tim and I will take in the Museum while the Kat and Joanie will go on some 15 miles to Kimball and Bean, an architectural salvage yard in Woodstock Ill. The second day will bring us to Chicago where we will spend the entire day at the Museum. On the return trip we will stop at Rochelle Ill. where the main lines of the Union Pacific and the BNSF cross with some 120 trains a day passing through. Tim and I will watch trains while the women go on to another venture not yet selected.

Bickering days have not yet been assigned for each couple, and because we are driving it has already been agreed that Joanie will shower every day. Hotel's with a common shower between rooms will be selected so Kat and Tim can take their 3 AM personal hygene break.

There's a new Birthday Page up so take a look. That's all the news that is news, see ya.
