he surgery that was discussed last week in The Newsletter has been completed and is successful.
Peg Vanlanen who needed a pacemaker installed as reported in last week's newsletter has had the device installed and it seems to be working properly. Vanlanen 65 needed the pacemaker after her doctor decided that her condition would not improve unless the solid state device was implanted in her chest. Vanlanen's husband Dan ordered a pacemaker from ebay however the device was never used because it did not arrive in time due to shipping method selected by Vanlanen at the time of purchase. Aparently he selected free shipping which is the US mail, dog sled is the preferred method of transportation for the US Mail therefore the package did not arrive in time.
A call from Peg Vanlanen's daughter Michelle came at about 5 PM on Friday to inform the media of Vanlanen's plight. Even though the operation was a success she would be staying the night at the hospital according to Michelle. This information contridicted what her husband Dan informed us the week before stating that the procedure would be an out patient procedure and she would be coming home the same day.
Vanlanen is epected to make a complete recovery however it is expected also that she will not be golfing in the upcoming Poquette Golf Tournament on September 7th. Her participation as a quarterback in the high acclaimed "Turkey Bowl" is also in question for this year as she will still be on the mend by Thanksgiving.
Family members on hand for the surgical event totaled three in number with her husband
Dan and her oldest daughter Michelle and her granddaughter Megan. The trio enjoyed free coffee and doughnuts while they waited and watched their favorite television programs in the lounge. Later after Peg awoke and the group conversated a bit the three left her to rest while the went out to enjoy a chicken dinner at a local establishment.
The Poquette Family Golf outing scheduled for September 7th has a few more details regarding it price and tee times. The price is $26 per 9 hole game including a cart and the tee times are split from 1:30 to 2:00 PM. The course this year is Mid Valee Golf Course located between County U and Mid Vally drive. No location for the after party has yet been set.
